Jacqui Burge started practicing and teaching fitness, nutrition, and yoga in 1994. This passion grew into a dedicated focus on the effects of workplace conditions on an employee’s overall well-being. Through extensive research and experience, she discovered that even with all companies do to make employees comfortable as a whole, the workplace continued to be plagued with absenteeism, depression, illness, injury, and disengagement. To battle this epidemic of decreased productivity, low morale, and the major effect it can have on company finances, Jacqui launched Desk Yogi.
Jon Robertson was raised with an active lifestyle that included skateboarding, waterskiing, snow skiing, and racing bicycles competitively across the country. After college, Jon traded his active lifestyle for a desk where he discovered firsthand how inactivity can negatively impact ones overall health. It took a serious medical scare to motivate him to make his health a priority, and yet he still found it difficult to incorporate personal wellness goals into his busy work life. When Jacqui approached Jon with the concept of Desk Yogi, he finally found a solution he had been searching for, and immediately got involved—first as an advisor, and then joining the company full-time soon after.
